Dreams and Visions: God Moving in the Imagination

All dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible. -T.E. Lawrence, Seven Pillars of Wisdom

I can't seem to shake what God has spoken into my heart. Today I began to read a book called God on Campus by Trent Sheppard. In the introduction Trent goes through dreams he and two of his friends had. These are what their dreams told them: call campus America to prayer, it's time to call the dead to get into the game, and a storm is gathering. These visions were for all the campuses in America. Visions for a movement to prayer and awakening to the truth.

I myself have had a vision for the campus. It was much like the dream Trent had where there was a "student stampede". A mass of college students seeking for something beyond a simple conversion but a transformation. My vision was very simple really. A field full of people silhouetted against a bright light over the horizon. My understanding of the vision is more complete and it becomes more full even four years later. The vision was of revival for the college campus. God is calling students to Him in a powerful way. This is why I am working with InterVarsity. God has given me a vision to reach college students that has grown a passion in me. God is giving these kinds of visions to for the American Campus all over the world. The place in which God is working is the best place in which to do God's work.

Sometimes I wonder why God has chosen me to be part of this vision. I feel like Moses in this point of my life. Questioning God on His choice. Saying, "Um God.... I don't mean to say that you are wrong but... you've got the wrong girl." Why has He chosen a girl who is not articulate, has a bad memory, and self conscious. I may have these questions but what I do know is that He chose me. The Lord does always seem to choose the least to do His work and I sure do feel that I am the last choice He should have made. Never the less, I was one of the ones He has chosen to be part of His work on campus. God is equipping me to do what He has called me to do. In moments when I feel that maybe I misunderstood Him, God gives me encouragement. Today it was as a text that read "Love you very much! May God's richest blessing cover you." God is watching out for me as He is for you.

Don't be fearful for what others will think of what you do for the Lord because the things you fear are the things that have control over you. Do you want people to be your God or for the Lord to be the only God of your life.

Be a day dreamer!

  1. Dig the painting! Looks oddly familiar...oh wait...it sits behind me now! How did you do that?!?!

But seriously, pursue your vision! Be a vessel for God's work. I'm praying for you and your hubby, be blessed.
